The Mets were reportedly in contention to land Mark DeRosa, but they refused to part with reliever Robert Parnell.
Cleveland general manager Mark Shapiro wanted Parnell and another prospect in a deal for DeRosa.
Reds Are 'Definitely' Still Looking For Bat
Reds general manager Walt Jocketty says that the team is "definitely" still looking to add a bat.
Cincinnati was one of the teams involved in talks for Mark DeRosa, but St. Louis landed him from Cleveland last week.
While the Reds are looking to add a bat, they are somewhat limited by their payroll.
"We'll look at each deal individually," Jocketty said. "The DeRosa deal was one we thought made sense to pursue. We can't take on a lot of payroll ? I wouldn?t recommend that we do that ? but if the right deal comes along, we'll look at it."

The White Sox have maintained that they aren't considering themselves sellers, but the Giants are scouting Jermaine Dye nonetheless.
San Francisco sent one of their top scouts to watch the right fielder on Monday night.
The Giants are also rumored to be looking at Cleveland's Victor Martinez.
More Indians Hitting Trade Market
After dealing Mark DeRosa, the Indians are expected to float a few more names out on the trade market.
Cleveland is 12 games behind Detroit for first place in the AL Central.
The Indians could trade a trio of players that are not under contract for the 2010 season: reliever Rafael Betancourt, starting pitcher Carl Pavano and infielder Jamey Carroll.
Brewers, D-Backs Discussing Trade
The Diamondbacks and Brewers are reportedly discussing a trade involving unspecified players.
Arizona left-hander Doug Davis and reliever Felipe Lopez are two names that are believed to intrigue Milwaukee.
"Because they're one of the few clubs with available pieces, their asking price is way too high," Brewers assistant general manager Gord Ash told reporters. "So they don't have to make a deal yet."
Yankees Could Make Play For Street
The Yankees could inquire about reliever Huston Street if the Rockies fall out of the playoff race.
According to a source, the Yankees may have already asked about Street and their interest in the pitcher is "serious."

Phillies Interested In Chien-Ming Wang
The Phillies have scouted struggling Yankees starter Chien-Ming Wang recently.
Philadelphia is looking to bolster their pitching staff, and they don't appear to be looking specifically for a starter or a reliever.
"Doesn't matter. They're looking for anything they can get," a rival scout said.
The Phillies have also been scouting Boston's Brad Penny, Colorado's Jason Marquis and Seattle's Jarrod Washburn.
Milwaukee Looking To Add Pieces
The Brewers are looking to add another piece or two, but appear unwilling to part with any of their top prospects.
"We are looking to add some pieces here," team owner Mark Attanasio said. "But there's no guarantee of that, so these guys have to get the job done here.
"And we have confidence they can. We wouldn't be looking ahead (to a trade) if we didn't think this was a playoff-caliber team."
Milwaukee entered their game against San Francisco on Saturday night trailing St. Louis by 1/2 game for the lead in the NL Central.
"Within limits, the payroll can expand depending on the caliber of the player involved," Attanasio said. "With our fan support, we're on the upper end of what I thought we could do here.
"We're actively looking at some guys, but one of the (byproducts) of the wild-card system is there's a lot of teams still in contention."

The package would probably include right fielder Ryan Ludwick and either reliever Jason Motte, Chris Perez or Kyle McClellan, plus a minor-league prospect.
